Plan continuity credit for staff during a connectivity disruption
When staff lose connectivity during an incident, the on-call manager should already know who gets emergency credit, what they can approve and where to record each top-up.

Set a release rule for continuity credit
Keep the reserve in the incident procedure. Define what confirms a disruption, which roles or devices qualify, where funds come from, the allowed products and how to reach supplier support. Agree who can approve a release, how much they can issue per person or device and who closes the log. A R1,500 reserve could cover 30 allocations of R50 before fees. Release what the affected work needs within the approved cap.
Give the incident lead a release rule
Check the supplier and available products before ordering. Log the incident ID, time, approval, staff or asset reference, amount and order reference. Add the final status to the same record. Check the log for duplicate requests and keep account and recipient details out of broad incident channels. If an order times out, look up the original reference before sending another top-up.
Close the reserve when normal service resumes
Match completed, pending and failed orders to the approvals. Confirm what was charged and what remains, assign open cases and record when the reserve was closed. Return the unused authority to the budget owner and use the normal budget approval if the reserve needs replenishing. Review whether the release reached the right staff in time. If the same outage keeps drawing on the reserve, take that pattern back to the continuity plan before approving more routine emergency top-ups.
