Airtime, data or a store voucher for customer rewards?

If you want customers to complete an online form, check whether a data bundle covers what they need to do. If you’re offering a store voucher, check whether the people you’re rewarding can get to an eligible shop. Airtime is a sensible option when customers can use general mobile credit.

Compare the job each reward can do

Put the promise to customers in one sentence, then check it against the product. A specific data bundle needs to work on the recipient’s network and device and last long enough for the intended use. A store voucher may restrict which outlets or purchases qualify. Check those conditions with the supplier before you put them in the offer.

For 200 customers at R30 each, the face value is R6,000 whichever option you choose. Compare purchase, delivery and redemption costs for the same 200 people. Add the practical questions to your comparison: how many customers can use each option, what help will they need, and what evidence will finance receive?

Test the offer with eligible customers

Ask someone who hasn’t seen the process to follow the instructions. They should be able to tell what they’ll get, when to expect it, how to redeem it and who to contact if it doesn’t arrive. If the offer has a redemption deadline, check it against the supplier’s terms before publishing it. Have support review the instructions and keep product restrictions and delivery exceptions with the approval.

If you’re testing whether a new message improves response, keep the reward the same in both groups. If you want to compare reward types, keep the audience, eligibility and message consistent so the offer is the change you’re measuring.
